Apprenticeship Wage Subsidy

Wage Subsidy due to complete 30 June 2022

The Boosting Apprenticeships Commencements Wage Subsidy (BAC) is due to come to completion on 30 June 2022.

For those of you who have not heard of the BAC Wage Subsidy, under this scheme, employers receive 50% of their apprentice’s wages for the first year of employment, for an amount up to $28,000.

In the years following the completion of the BAC program, eligible employers will receive a further 10% an 5% wage subsidy for each year respectively under the Completing Apprenticeship Commencements (CAC) Wage Subsidy.

We urge employers who are looking for a new apprentice or trainee to join their team to act now to avoid disappointment. Also, you will need to confirm your apprentice or trainee has been signed into their Training Contract with your chosen AASN before the 30 June deadline to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria to receive the $7,000 per quarter Wage Subsidy.

Places in both the BAC and CAC programs are uncapped, available for recommencing apprentices and open to businesses of all sizes.

From 1 July 2022, this program will be replaced with the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System. For more information on this, see the Factsheet.
